5 Simple Self-Care Habits You Should Try

There are a few self-care habits I have developed over the years that have definitely helped me overcome my anxiety and my overall mental health struggles. These habits fuel my good days while making sure I feel content and safe.

To many, self-care seems like a luxury, something rare, only those privileged non-busy individuals can fit into their schedules. No. Self-care is for everyone, especially for the busiest ones. You should be incorporating self-care into your lifestyle on a day to day basis because you are worth it and you do need to be taken care of.

So, if you're realising that you're not taking care of yourself like you should, hopefully, these simple, cosy self-care habits will give you ideas for what you can start doing each day to show yourself some love you deserved.

go for a nature walk

I often feel like I have been stuck inside for too long, so going outside is the answer! I make it a top priority to go for a walk every evening, to breathe in some fresh air, listen to the birds chirping, to observe the world around me. This self-care habit is so powerful — it makes me feel like I can tackle anything that is thrown at me.

a time away from my phone

We're all suckers for being addicted to our phones, right? Little did I know, it's exhausting to have my phone chained with me all the time. So I make it a habit to put my phone down for a few hours in a day and do something else calming such as journaling, painting my nails, or even as simple as meditating and having a cup of tea. This habit allows me to feel a whole lot better about myself and realise how insignificant my problems are.

treating myself

I love the idea of treating myself because why not? After all, I work hard, I deserve to celebrate myself and my small wins. And what makes this pamper session even better is I like to keep it budget-friendly — I mean, I love treating myself to an at-home facial session, and instead of buying, I bake my own brownies! You should indulge every now and then because you deserve it.

5 Simple Self-Care Habits You Should Try

using a giant water bottle to stay hydrated

This is probably the simplest self-care you can do to your body. So I was using a regular cup before and I knew I wasn't drinking enough water and admittedly, I got lazy to refill it throughout the day. Now I am using a giant water bottle that I already have at home and sometimes I don't even have to get a refill because it's GIANT. Staying hydrated is important because it leads to countless benefits like flushing out toxins from your body and preventing headaches. Want better skin? Drink more water.

simplifying my routines

This past year I have learned that for me less is actually more. My mind gets filled up really quickly with so many tasks I want to get done and that is usually where my anxiety kicks in. So these days, I am learning to split my work and just move through with the mundane tasks like they're an act of self-care that I actually enjoy.

Simplifying my routine looks something like indulging in the clichés like lighting some candles, spritzing some perfume before going to bed, taking the time to exfoliate my body and not rushing through my skincare routine. Hopefully, these boring actions are the teeny tiny ways I can take better care of myself.
