So, a little while ago, I fell into the #SkinTok rabbit hole and tried out a
viral skincare product that promised miracles. Spoiler alert: it did NOT work
for me. Yikes, right?
My skin freaked out and I ended up with breakouts all over. If you want to
know the whole #SkinTok debacle,
check out this post. It's safe to say that the brand is forever cancelled by me.
*wink*
Anyway, after some trial and error, my skin is finally on the mend. I've still
got some scarring here and there, but overall, my skin has cleared up and I'm
pretty happy with it now. Here are the five skincare tips that made a
world of difference for me:
1. Less is more
When my skin was freaking out, I knew I had to strip my routine down to the
basics and minimal routine. No new experiments, no trendy serums, just
the basics I know and trust. Less is definitely more, especially if you're dealing with
breakouts. Here's the routine that saved my skin:
- Double cleanse: I used my trusted cleansing oil followed by a gentle, low pH gel cleanser.
- Serum: A spot treatment for acne and scars.
- Moisturize: A light, gentle moisturizer that absorbs easily.
- Exfoliate: A chemical exfoliant to improve texture and scars without being too harsh.
- Protect: SPF 50+ PA+++. Seriously, sunscreen is a game-changer.
2. Letting my skin breathe
I took a break from makeup, and my skin thanked me for it. I felt a bit
self-conscious at first not gonna lie (thank goodness for masks!), but clearer
skin was totally worth it. The temptation to cover acne and scars with makeup
is real, but just so you know, makeup can clog pores and make things worse. If
you must wear makeup, make sure to clean your brushes and sponges regularly
and remove makeup as soon as you can!
3. Stop touching my face
This one was tough for me. Just FYI, the more you touch your face, the more
bacteria you introduce, leading to more breakouts. YES. And picking at
pimples? A big no-no. I used acne spot treatments like
this one or opted for
medicated pimple patches
instead of picking, and it made a huge difference.
4. Always wear sunscreen
One thing I've done right is to wear sunscreen every single day. Rain or
shine, indoors or outdoors, I wore it every single day. Sunscreen
protects your skin from harmful UV rays and prevents scars from getting
darker. So, slap on that SPF 50+ and don't forget to reapply throughout the
day.
5. Be consistent
Consistency is key. I stuck to my minimal
skincare
routine religiously. Instead of a bunch of different products, I focused on a
few essentials: sunscreen, exfoliant, cleansing products, and moisturizer. I
also cut down on sugar and dairy, drinking mostly water and kombucha.
After just a few weeks, I noticed a big improvement, and now my skin is almost
back to its clear, happy self. No more active breakouts, no more bumpy skin,
just a few scars left to heal! These five skincare tips made a world of
difference for me. Even as my skin continues to heal, these lessons will stick
with me.

Thank you! I'm glad you liked the tips. The less is more approach has been a game changer for me. It's amazing how simplifying our routines can make such a difference!
DeleteI still need to work on my SPF applying discipline, but other than that I believe that I'm doing a solid job! Less is more, I agree, and the DON'T TOUCH YOUR FACE really helps, though I have to admit that it can be hard to resist the impulse. xD

Haha I totally get you! SPF is so easy to forget but so worth it. And yes, not touching your face can be a struggle, especially when you don't even realize you're doing it >.<
DeleteI completely agree with you on all of these points! Less is definitely more when it comes to skincare! x

Thank you so much! Yeah, the scarring was expected, but I'm just really happy my skin is bouncing back!
DeleteI've been really on my sunscreen game these last few years, and it's for sure a game changer. It's also proven to do the most against anti-aging! I love using Korean sunscreens, because they just work so much better compared to american sunscreens! Great post xx

Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed the tips—seriously, sometimes the simpler, the better, right? And yes, the toner I mentioned is a game-changer for me; hope you love it as much as I do! I hope you have the most fabulous rest of your summer too xx
DeleteWearing a good SPF has also been a game changer for my skin. The UVA/UVB rays from the sun can do so much damage so it's definitely a tried and true method of retaining a youthful look. Thank you for sharing your tips!
