10 Cozy Hobbies That Are Worth Trying Out

Everyone should have a relaxing hobby that brings them joy—like those feel-good activities that make you feel cozy and just genuinely happy inside.

10 Cozy Hobbies That Are Worth Trying Out

I once read that we all need five hobbies: one to make money, one to stay fit, one to be creative, one to learn, and one for our mindset. But honestly, I feel like the hobbies we'll chat about today fit perfectly into those categories, and they bring that warm, fuzzy feeling we all crave. It's a win-win in my book!

I'm all about cozy vibes, whether it's rainy days, cuddling in my favorite sweater, or sipping on hot chocolate. So, if you're like me and looking to add some cozy, relaxing activities to your routine, here are 10 hobbies that are worth trying out and are actually perfect for fall season!

Baking

Baking can be such a cozy activity. Not only does it warm you up, but it's also great for your belly and your soul. Whether you're making bread, muffins, or cookies, it's a good way to embrace a slower pace of life and fill your home with delicious scents. Some of my go-to bakes are brookies, brownies, mini chocolate chip cookies, blueberry muffins, and raspberry scones. I think it's so satisfying creating delicious treats from scratch—and eating them, of course!

Painting

The whole idea of painting is very hygge to me. You definitely don't need to be a pro to enjoy it! I started with watercolor, which I still love, and then I gave acrylics a try and fell even more in love. My paintings are usually random, but I tend to gravitate towards peaceful sceneries with lots of skies and nature. If you're more of a "follow the lines" kind of person, paint-by-numbers are super fun too. I used to do those with my sister, and it was always a blast!

Puzzles

Puzzles are oddly addictive, right? Whether you're tackling a 1000-piece masterpiece or just putting together a cute mini puzzle, it's such a chill way to spend your time. You can work on it for a few minutes or lose yourself in it for hours. And if you're up for a challenge, try the Starry Night by Van Gogh puzzle.

Board games

I love a good Netflix binge, but sometimes it's nice to unplug and do something old-school, like playing board games. It's the perfect after-work hobby to enjoy with friends or family—no screens required. Whether you're into Monopoly or something more low-key, it's a fun way to connect and unwind.

Cross stitching

Cross stitching gives me all the nostalgic feels—my mom used to do it back in her teenage years, and I've been lucky enough to use her old supplies. This old-school hobby is super beginner-friendly and sooo relaxing. You just follow a pattern, create some X-shaped stitches on a piece of evenly woven fabric, and you've got yourself a cozy little craft. It's like embroidery's laid-back cousin!

Bullet journaling

You know I couldn't leave this one out! I find it so soothing to jot down my thoughts, dreams, and hopes on paper. There are tons of journaling options out there, but I always come back to bullet journaling. The blank pages let me create my own prompts and designs, and I can use fancy markers, stickers, and scrapbook paper or just a pen, depending on my mood. Writing has been a passion of mine since elementary school English classes. It's so much more enjoyable to write about what makes me happy or what's going on in my life. Sometimes, writing helps me sort out my feelings or work through a situation. For me, bullet journaling is a super relaxing way to remember things, plan, be creative, and make sense of everything going on in my head.

Reading

There's honestly nothing cozier than curling up with a great book—comfy armchair, soft throw blanket, and oversized hoodie in tow. With audiobooks and ebooks making it so easy to find something you'll love, you're never short on options! As a huge fan of crime fiction and true crime, I recently stumbled upon the cozy mystery sub-genre, and it feels like it was made just for me.

Singing

Okay, so I'm no Ariana Grande, but singing is still one of my favorite ways to relax. Whether it's belting out tunes in the shower or practicing with a YouTube vocal coach, singing is all about having fun and letting loose. You don't need a stage—just sing your heart out to your favorite songs and enjoy the moment!

Walking

Walking is one of those simple things we often overlook, but it's such a great way to enjoy fresh air, see new things, and get some gentle exercise. Plus, it's a nice way to stay present and appreciate life's little moments. Try to make it a weekly habit! Just a little reminder: if you're a woman, it's best to walk with a friend and stay aware of your surroundings.

Coloring

Spending an evening curled up in your PJs, working through an adult coloring book with a steaming cup of hot chocolate by your side sounds like the ultimate cozy night in. If you're looking for a magical coloring experience, check out this charming coloring book from my super talented and lovely Instagram friend—it's full of whimsy and fantasy! You have to check her out!
