My Favorite Albums of 2024 (so far)

I honestly don't know how I'd survive without music. It's like my daily dose of happiness, and this year has been a total jackpot for my playlist! Almost all of my favorite artists have dropped new albums, and they're all simply phenomenal. If I could hand out Album of the Year awards, each one of these would win in a heartbeat.

Here are five albums from 2024 that I'm completely obsessed with:

Short n’ Sweet by Sabrina Carpenter

This album just dropped on August 23, so it's been over a week now, and I'm totally hooked! Short n' Sweet is Sabrina's BEST work yet. It's a fresh departure from Email's I Can't Send, mixing R&B, '80s pop, synth rock, and a little bit of country I must say.

Her voice really shines here, and the mix is super diverse. Plus, the writing is funny and clever. Each track has its own vibe but stays catchy with a pop influence. The album feels chaotic yet unique, giving me vibes of Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift but with Sabrina's own twist. She's really outdoing herself and a lot of other big names, and it's so cool to see her finally getting the recognition she's deserved for ages. I'm happy to see her growth—it's been a journey, and she's definitely not an overnight sensation.

Favorite tracks: Good Graces, Taste, Juno, Espresso, Bed Chem.

The Tortured Poets Department by Taylor Swift

I honestly can't believe Taylor has outdone herself yet again. It's clear she can achieve anything when she puts her heart and soul into it, and this album is proof of that. From the moment I heard "Fortnight," it felt like it rewired my brain. Every song on this album, with its 31 tracks, captivated me deeply. DEEPLY.

Her mix of boldness and vulnerability shines through, making it one of her best works yet. The lyrics are rich and meaningful, telling stories as beautifully as folklore and evermore, but even better. It's a beautiful album for anyone dealing with heartbreak, with its mix of rock and pop vibes adding to the experience. Whether you're having a rough day, a busy week, or just need some background music, this album fits perfectly!

Favorite tracks: Fortnight, The Black Dog, Down Bad, Who's Afraid of Little Old Me, I Can Do It With A Broken Heart.

Eternal Sunshine by Ariana Grande

I have to say it: Eternal Sunshine might be Ariana's best album yet! Since it dropped, it's been the only music I play. That says a lot about how much I love it. The way each track flows like a story—from a question to an answer—is just brilliant. Her vocals are so angelic and captivating. I love how raw and honest she is here. Every song is perfectly produced and arranged.

After a four-year wait, it was definitely worth it. Eternal Sunshine makes me cry every time I listen; it's both heart-wrenching and healing. As a fan for over a decade, I've loved all her work, but this album brings together all the best elements from her past music into one amazing package.

Favorite tracks: Intro (End of the World), Eternal Sunshine, Bye, Imperfect For You, Don't Wanna Break Up Again.

Deeper Well by Kacey Musgraves

Kacey Musgraves is one of my all-time favorite country artists. She has a special place in my heart, and Deeper Well is no exception. I've been a fan since her debut, Same Trailer Different Park.

Honestly, every track on this album is stunning. Her soothing voice and beautifully crafted songs are perfect for introspective moments or peaceful walks in nature. It really gets me in my feelings, but in a good way, and I love having it play in the background while I journal at night too. It's so peaceful and soothing. This album is just ethereal and beautifully crafted.

Favorite tracks: Deeper Well, Too Good To Be True, Sway, Jade Green, Giver / Taker.

The Secret Of Us by Gracie Abrams

As someone who's been a dramatic, hopeless romantic for most of my life, I'm pretty sure Gracie Abrams just wrote an entire album just for me. From heartache to friendship to those nerve-wracking crush feelings, she captures every emotion with a raw honesty that really hits home for me and so many others.

The album is both fun and thoughtful, with a mix of upbeat and somber tracks. I loved the singles that came out before the full release—they're super relatable and have such varied production. The lyrics are deep and unique, and her vocals are soothing and emotional. The collaboration with Taylor Swift is a standout moment, making this album even more special. I'm totally obsessed!

Favorite tracks: Risk, I Love You, I'm Sorry, Close To You, Tough Love, Us.

What are your favorite albums of 2024 so far? Any new releases that you can't stop listening to?

  2. I’ve heard some of Sabrina’s songs that are topping the charts here in the Philippines (Please please please, Espresso, Taste). I’m definitely going to check out her full album because I’m starting to like her! As for me, I’m listening to Rex Orange County’s The Alexander Technique and Felip’s 7 Sins album—very different sounds, but both are so good. x
